resveratrol-dependent down-regulation of receptor for advanced glycation end-products and oxidative stress in kidney of rats with diabetes

چکیده
conclusions these results revealed that resveratrol has beneficial effects on kidney by extenuating the oxidative stress and down-regulation of rage expression. results in resveratrol-treated rats with diabetes, malondialdehyde levels, plasma glucose and expression of rage were significantly reduced compared with the untreated group. moreover, the total antioxidant and insulin levels significantly increased in treated rats. there was no significant difference in the ages contents among all the groups. background millions of people in the world have diabetes mellitus and its prevalence is growing. oxidative stress, advanced glycation end-products (ages) and receptor for advanced glycation end-products (rage) play key role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. new and safe strategies of remedy are needed for this disease. objectives we hypothesized that resveratrol may exert a renal protective effect on diabetic rats. materials and methods male rats with diabetes were treated with or without resveratrol as 1, 5, 10 mg/kg of body weight for 30 days. the total ages and malondialdehyde levels in kidney tissues were determined by spectrofluorimetric method and the insulin level was assayed using elisa. the total antioxidant capacity contents in kidney and the glucose in plasma were measured by a colorimetric assay. the expression of rage was assayed in kidneys of all animals using quantitative pcr.

New and safe strategies of remedy are needed for this disease. OBJECTIVES We hypothesized that resveratrol may exert a renal protective ef...
متن کاملAdvanced Glycation End-Products and Their Receptor-Mediated Roles: Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
Glycation is a protein modification, which results in a change in a protein structure. Glycation is believed to be the etiology of various age-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus and Alz-heimer’s disease (AD). Activation of microglia and resident macrophages in the brain by glycated proteins with subsequent oxidative stress and cytokine release may be an important factor in the progressi...

متن کاملAdvanced glycation end products, oxidative stress and diabetic nephropathy
About 246 million people worldwide have diabetes in 2007. The global figure of people with diabetes is projected to increase to 370 million in 2030. As the prevalence of diabetes has risen to epidemic proportions worldwide, diabetic nephropathy has become one of the most challenging health problems. Therapeutic options such as strict blood glucose and blood pressure controls are effective for p...
متن کاملAdvanced glycation end products, soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products, and risk of colorectal cancer.
BACKGROUND Advanced glycation end products (AGE) accumulate in human tissue proteins during aging, particularly under hyperglycemia conditions. AGEs induce oxidative stress and inflammation via the receptor for AGEs (RAGE) and soluble RAGE (sRAGE) can neutralize the effects mediated by RAGE-ligand engagement. METHODS We examined the association between N(ε)-(carboxymethyl)lysine (CML), a prom...
متن کاملAssessment of Oral Glycine and Lysine Therapy on Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products and Transforming Growth Factor Beta Expression in the Kidney of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats in Comparison with Normal Rats
Background & Aims: Today, diabetic nephropathy is considered to be one of the most common causes of end stage renal disease. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia, and consequently, production of advanced glycation end products activate pathways which play key roles in diabetic nephropathy. Among these pathways, high expression of receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and transforming growth...
